Does music trigger emotion?

My personal view is that music is one of the most powerful triggers of emotion we can experience as humans.  I’m sure, of course, that it depends on how deep your connection to music is.  Mine runs deep.

Why not take it out for a spin?  Here is a 5 second sample of every #1 pop hit…in order.  Go ahead and find the songs that were playing at the time when you were a child and first becoming self-aware.  Enjoy the ride through your adult life.

How do you feel?

EDIT:  It looks like we are missing a ton of music from about 1990 onward.  So, I just gave my age away.  This exercise will only work if you are 30+.   :)
