Dispassion Sells
Mahatma Gandhi said, “A burning passion coupled with absolute detachment is the key to all success.”
R. L. Emery, playing the drill sergeant in the movie Full Metal Jacket said, “A rifle doesn’t kill people. A marine with a hard heart kills people.”
How can one person be passionate and dispassionate at the same time? The answer is that the emotion and lack of emotion are directed at...

Does music trigger emotion?
My personal view is that music is one of the most powerful triggers of emotion we can experience as humans. I’m sure, of course, that it depends on how deep your connection to music is. Mine runs deep.
Why not take it out for a spin? Here is a 5 second sample of every #1 pop hit…in order. Go ahead and find the songs that were playing at the time when you were a child and first...

What Android Is →
Tim Bray’s write-up on Android. He works on Android @ Google.

Android runs on Linux, but I’d be nervous...

Firesheep & Class Action
It’s odd/scary that I need to use my Verizon Aircard instead of the free, fast open wireless in the coffee shop I’m at.
It’s become way too easy (thanks to Firesheep) for someone to steal my session/account/identity in Gmail, Tumblr, or anything else I use. This is mildly annoying for me, but more importantly, it’s crazy irresponsible on a large scale.
Here’s...

Sticking it to the man
I just called Comcast because we are one of those mythical cord-cutting households. We have Netflix and a laptop hooked up to the Vizio w/ Hulu…not a big need for Comcast cable tv (except for the game tonight which we can get on justin.tv or similar if they disconnect us right away).
Anyway, the main point of this post is that the guy in the Comcast cancelation department clearly enjoyed...
